My friend works with FEMA and is in Asheville. The right-wing misinformation and left-wing doomerism is actively making things more difficult on the ground. There are *thousands* of government employees and contractors working insane hours and the efforts are fully funded
In Belgium, student accommodation is shared with older people in retirement homes in exchange for a few hours of presence with the residents; young people benefit from much cheaper rent in really nice areas. Both the students and the elderly residents benefit from the arrangment.
