I love this Thai restaurant's subtle roasting of it's customers.

A screenshot of the "Spice Level" options for a dish, the available options are:

Google's AI is just respecting the forbidden knowledge that anything can become it's own warning light if subjected to sufficient amps.

A bus bar connection with multiple wires bolted to it, the nut of the central connection is glowing cherry red in a deeply unsettling manner.
A blurry photo of a bus bar connection where the threads of the 4 bolts are visible through the holes in the side. The second bolt's threads are glowing an enticing yet problematic shade of bright red
A breaker panel. One of the breakers is flipped and there are some scorch marks on the plastic housing below it. The hole below the flipped breaker is also glowing an ominous shade of amber.

One thing that I've found has changed thanks to parenthood is that it's actually weirdly relaxing to hear someone else's child screaming on a plane now.

Performance is almost always the wrong reason to pick a language. Back in 2008 we were porting a web app from C++ to Python and expecting a performance hit yet parts of it ended up much quicker. The simpler new code let us find and remove whole chunks of work it was doing for absolutely no reason.

A question that never gets considered in all these extreme disaster plans is: Why do you think your employees will want to head to work and not go to be woth their loved ones? Unless your organization is part of the direct response to the situation, why would anyone care about it in the aftermath?

If it's raining you may need to recruit this one.

Warning sign from the UK for road work ahead which is supposed to be someone shoveling something but, in fact, just looks like they're struggling with a large partially opened umbrella

Maybe just whomever (or whatever) eats the dollar slice becomes the next mayor?
