We have to admit that tech disrupt our societies more than initially thought and more than we want. McLuhan's 'the medium is the message' is still true.

I think bulk surveillance should be avoided, but judges should be able to have access to tech in certain cases. Education is important (end 19th century: 'build schools and you can close prisons') but it's naive thinking that education can compete with the power of tech.
