Found in SE Florida in March, a newly adventive species of wolf spider: Trochosa urbana, native to Israel and Egypt; only sparsely recorded so far in Florida. Female, body length 20mm. #Arachtober

A dark brown wolf spider with a pale stripe along her back is at rest on a flat wood surface. Like all wolf spiders, she has a large pair of black stereoscopic eyes that face forward among six much smaller eyes (eight eyes in total).
