Well Ive been playing ttRPHs for decades so have a wide experience, but writing one seems like a huge challenge compared even to writing an adventure!
Absolutely. Design documents are of some help here. Likewise, a workflow for scaffolding your intended features before you invest actual prose to writing them does wonders for making refactoring feel less like cutting teeth. In that way, good RPG work is a lot like good code, IMO
