I love your petty. I love that you share your petty. And it's been a helluva Monday and I'm ready to indulge my own petty.
My then housemate worked at a senior center with a huge common area and it was the same thing: if they didn't need the space, you could use it. I think they asked for donations but it was basically NOTAFLOF and some people offered to pay for the space by doing volunteer maintenance work.
It feels like "borrowing" spaces for personal/social events isn't really a thing anymore either. The last church I worked in basically functioned as a community rec room for just about anyone: if we didn't have an event we'd probably let you use the space as long as you picked up after yourself.
It's like a full size version of a cheap and inconsistently designed dollhouse. I got claustrophobic just looking at the pictures and I'm not claustrophobic.
