Yes, I agree there has been an overcorrection because of the opioid deaths and misuse, addiction risk for many. But that broad stroke approach means individualized pain management can be squashed, leaving some people in pain.

The problem is a lot of doctors think "addiction" is the worst thing that can happen to people, and then they conflate physical dependence with addiction when the actual addiction rate for opioids used properly in long term pain management is *incredibly* low.
