Had a great Zoom brainstorming session w/ @charlenedraws.bsky.social@boringstorybook.com#kidlitcreating a mega KidLit Feed to help with on-boarding for new users. Will be ready soon! p.s. Meeting ran long & we were somewhat giddy by the end, as you can see! šŸ˜‚

A video call with three participants visible in separate panels. The top left panel shows a person with long dark hair and glasses in what appears to be an indoor setting. The top right panel depicts a smiling person with longer dark hair against a blue sky background. The bottom panel displays a person with short light-colored hair in an indoor environment with a door visible behind them. The participants seem engaged in a casual conversation or meeting.
Three people having silly fun in a video call, each holding an object. One screen shows a woman holding a doll in a red dress. Another screen shows a woman pretending to be scared of a toy squirrel. Another screen shows a man holding up a screen that depicts a cat.

One thing a lot of beginner writers, creators, and artists donā€™t understand is that finishing projects is a separate skill from the skills of the craft. Thatā€™s why we say to start small, you can be great at prose and story, but you need to practice finishing to do it reliably.

Crediting the illustrator is ESPECIALLY important during this time, when more are using AI-generated art instead of hiring artists. Proper credit not only helps illustrator but also shows the world you are supporting HUMAN ILLUSTRATORS. Art by @sarahmcintyre.bsky.social#PicturesMeanBusiness

A cartoon illustration depicting a scene where a group of children and their teacher are admiring a poster of "Our Favourite Picture Book" by John Writer, featuring a superhero cat character. Two children express their love for the writer, saying "We love John Writer!" and "His cats are so cute!" An illustrator named Jane stands to the side, arms crossed, with a thought bubble stating, "But... John Writer didn't decide how this character would look... I did!" She is labeled as "Jane Illustrator, feeling miffed." The hashtag #PicturesMeanBusiness is included at the bottom right, signed by artist Sarah McIntyre.

Those who've been trying to remove certain books from childrens' sections at public libraries are now taking aim at what they see as a source of the problem: the American Library Association.

In Georgia, a bill to cut all ties with the American Library Association is advancing

Several other states have made moves to disassociate from the nation's oldest library professional association. But Georgia's bill, the first of its kind in the nation, goes further than the others.

A friend of mine asked for recommendations of picture books featuring characters with hearing aids. Here's a list I compiled after asking you folks. Feel free to share it, in case you find it useful. #kidlitafuse8production.slj.com/2024/02/05/b...
