Any detail of the head where ocelli are visible? Head looks pretty round for rhynchodemid, it looking more like roundish shape of microplanid. Some of my examples > first pic: Microplana sp., second Rhynchodemus sylvaticus
Nobody could be offended by good Tomopteris ;]
Depends on species. Usually it's true. Then we have maniacs as Sphalloplana mohri who have up to 50. Digonopyla harmeri is silly terrestrial case - up to 100 with plenty of mouth openings. Phagocata woodworthi and gracilis have also more pharynges. Some marine polyclads are polypharyngeal too
I'm kinda used to fact that glossiphonids having maternal care but this just another level. Normally it looking like in this Theromyzon tessulatum - juveniles are just carried on ventral side until is time to leave home.
Nice to see familiar planarian folks. Welcome here ;]
Best nose piercing ever
Mom, do you looking? I'm polychaete worm now!
Stylaria my beloved. Pretty catenulid too, most likely Stenostomum.
Determination based on whole mount which apparently have 2 lines of very tiny hooks and unarmed hardly detectable suckers on rather wide head. I will post whole mount later. However both positive whole mounts have retracted heads due fixation so it's bit hard to see features clearly.
And some apparently more mature proglottids in detail. Calcareous corpuscles are visible at edges under tegument. Those are far better visible in whole mounts. Muscless are visible as well. I'm not sure what orientation I hit here, still learning, those are new worms for me. ;] 25x, several frames.
