Screenwriters Ed Solomon & Ryan Rowe were commissioned by the producers to do a rewrite of the so-called "Mad Max" screenplay by Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais. The Solomon/Rowe script ended with the double wedding of Mario with Daniella and Luigi with Daisy:
