i just saw someone refer to the 1980s as "the late 1900s" and while thats accurate, ive shriveled into a stream of grave dust
Reminds me of how if I mention to my younger cousins that the 1990s still feel like ten years ago to me, they are oh so eager to correct me. And how I wince every time. What do you mean it’s not 2011 anymore?
For some reason, I’ve been served a bunch of those videos where they ask college/high school kids “what year do you have to be born in to be considered old?” So many of them answer something in the 1990s.
Late 20th century.
I realized if you split it into 3rds, early 19th cent = 1900*-33, mid 1933-1966, late 1967-1999, that makes me, a 1966 baby, born in the mid-20th century.... :/ *(1900, 1901, whatever it takes)
Similar energy to "I'm from the last century"
Something from the 1990s is "turn of the century".
Alt: A bearded man's hair suddenly grows and turns white as VFX ages him
The late second millennium
"Late 1900s" = 1909 "Late 1930s" = 1939 "Late 1990s" = 1999 No?
Wait until "turn of the century" comes into vogue.
The 15 yo neighbor told me they couldn’t wait for a historical even to define their generation because “you all had 9/11, I don’t even remember it” and I think it’s time to make a will 🤦🏻♂️
