I think I was pretty clear in the paper that we don't know how well the findings will generalize. I also address the criticism about PLOS review quality: I went through all the reviews myself, and they look no different from what you would see elsewhere (just my sense though, no data on that).

Oh, it's not meant as a criticism. I genuinely wonder whether community engagement in journals matters (in the sense of, can communities govern themselves?). I appreciate your thorough work in this paper!
