Continuing to the target they were forced by cloud to attack from low-level and were badly hit by flak. He was KIA as they crash landed behind Allied lines. Buried at Calais Canadian Cemetery, his epitaph “I Will Always Remember. Sadly Missed By His Loving Wife”….2/2 #LWFtinyurl.com/2j7hnhhv

#WW2#OTD 419365 F/Sgt Lindsay Giddings, 467 Sqn. 25 y/o. A cutter (tailor) prior to enlistment. WOP in Lancaster LM636. On his first operational sortie, to bomb Calais in support of operations to clear the Channel coast, failed to receive recall when raid cancelled due to bad weather...1/2
