I’m an “elder millennial” & this was my exp also, at least w my parents if not my extended fam. My dad was at UofCalif in 1966 when RR was first elected governor and described his peers feeling shock and dismay on levels we all experienced in 2016. But I know he was an outlier in how bitter he was.
One of my exes tried to convince me said devil was actually a saint. His arguments sucked and I told him as much.
I was blessed to have reasonably liberal parents (and my grandma would probably be called a communist these days LOL). I *almost* bought the Alex Keaton myth but it didn’t last.
Yes! His election was met with anger and disapproval by my grandfather and my mother. Reaganomics was a way to sneer or express derision about his policies and ideas. There was nothing good to say about him in our house for sure.
