Many of the issues faced by myself, my friends, and my colleagues is not because of 'science'. It's because of the systemic issues within academia: job insecurity, low wages, lack of jobs, rampant bullying, and toxic work environments.

This has been a long time coming - started this project during the dark days of COVID lockdown. Really have to thank a wonderful team for pushing this paper over the finish line, especially @houdzgeorge.bsky.social who really drove this forward. Very proud.

I am also super proud that we recommend that journals publish abstracts in the language(s) of the country where the fossils originate from - and @geolsoc.bsky.social facilitated us, allowing an Arabic abstract (to our knowledge the first for JGS).

Super proud that our review of the Cretaceous Lagerstätte of Lebanon is finally out! Read all about the different sites, the beautiful soft tissue fossils, the taphonomy, and also how colonialism impacts Lebanese palaeontology! Link: www.lyellcollection.org/doi/full/10....

fossil organisms found in the Late Cretaceous rocks of Lebanon. Lots of types of marine life such as fish, some reptiles, turtles. Plants and birds can also be seen.

Wishing I was back strolling the Ordovician coastline of Wales. Found a beauty of a Trilobite at the old disused quarry at Abereiddy.

A fossil Trilobite held on a hand overlooking an old quarry that has been filled by the ocean. The sun is shining and the water is emerald green.
