I remember clearly thinking "it's time to stop worrying about the entire department being pulled into a meeting with no notice, it's happened plenty of times before and it's always been fine", only to walk into the meeting room and see HR were there and whoops, redundancies incoming.

Somehow you always guess wrong. If you assume its going to be a layoff, then its just a business meeting. If you assume its just a meeting, then its HR. And yet we have to focus on work somehow.
