Scrivener replied to my email about AI. It's an unequivocal no to AI in their product. (Their point being: they won't, if an author wants to they can.) Please repost this. These guys are decent people and a pretty small company.
I emailed Scrivener and they are not planning to end their sponsorship. But they will pressurise NaNoWriMo to do better. Scrivener doesn’t believe removing the NaNoWriMo writing event is the right thing to do, if it can be avoided.
I literally d/l'd their free trial yesterday. I a breathing a sigh of relief right now.
Thanks for reaching out and sharing this E-Mail.
I mean, that's fine, but I'm still gonna be disappointed by them using the L&L blog to platform such enthusiastic advocacy for the theft machines. 🤷♀️ I've been using Scrivener for... I'm not even sure. 17 years? So that choice they made bums me out pretty hard.
It's the best writing software there is
I need to renew my Scrivener if I ever get serious about writing again. It's a great tool.
Plus, Scrivener is a great product. 👍
I use Scrivener and Scapple. It’s a good company. That’s for posting this and letting folks know that not every company is going to force AI on us.
L&L have now responded to the NaNoWriMo issue on their forum. They unequivocally state: "Our own stance on AI is that it has no place in our software…" forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/nanowrimo-... Thank you for standing up for decent developers in the face of silly scaremongering.
On this, just to say that, as sponsors, we have been in regular touch with NaNoWriMo over the past few days to express our concerns and those of our users, pushing them to rethink what they are saying...
