Mutation bias and adaptation in bacteria

Genetic mutation, which provides the raw material for evolutionary adaptation, is largely a stochastic force. However, there is ample evidence showing that mutations can also exhibit strong biases, wi...

Mutations occur at random, but not every mutation is equally likely to happen. Instead certain mutations are biased to occur. These biases are products of DNA-protein interactions that increase the chance of errors, namely during replication, transcription, or mismatch repair (2/7)
