Warren and Woody came into the music store. I was at lunch that day… keep in mind that I almost always ate lunch at work. The guy at the counter didn’t know them, told them that Gov’t Mule was a cool name. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I did sell a guitar to Chrissie Hynde and lots of others, but that one still bothers me!

Chrissie is a bit of a hero, to me, too. I started covering Axis:Bold as Love after hearing her tribute track on that Hendrix tribute. I think every band I played in covered at least one of her songs, lol.

Actually, our first Gov't Mule experience came on a VCR tape we bought off a nice guy that was selling copies of a bootleg at a Louisville Weir Wasserman show outside, in line before the show. We didn't miss a close show after watching that.

Oh, no! Yes, missed them by that much. I did get to catch the Halloween show many years after we lost Woody for the Rust Never Sleeps show. That night Warren played the Tom Waits Get Behind the Mule and Plow cover, too, and the Gov't Mule song you quoted in the OP.
