When I was teaching bird banding, we were processing a Steller’s jay when a person from the east coast declared it his favorite bird. After release it called loudly & he asked OMG what is that?!? I was like, THAT is your favorite bird! Now, whenever I hear them I smile at that delightful memory 🪶
