Crimson whelps again, start out with black scales and as they grow and eat more ore, their crimson color starts to come in as they shed scales. Which starts out as two times a month, the shed slows down to once a month, then once every other month as they grow.
Whelps are born with a full set of tiny sharp teeth and are often fed a meal of meat (this included offal, bone and fat) and goat's milk to make sure they get proper nutrition. The whelpings then leave for their family's home after this initial feeding and settle in to their new life.
After they hatch though, the whelping will then eat their eggshell, getting their first big boost of ore and minerals to help strengthen their scales and stoke their tiny flame stomachs.
When whelps are born, they chip away at the inside of their eggshell with an egg tooth, which falls off when they manage to hatch properly. Most parents keep this as a momento of their hatching.
This results in a whelp that has the appearance of a human baby, but with small horns, wings, claws, a tail and scales on their skin.
When the whelp hatches, they are not in human form, hatching as a small baby dragon with black scales. Whelps don't have enough mana to maintain a human form, but parents will give their whelp a necklace containing some of their own mana to grant them a humanoid form.
