Thing is, who gets to say who is an activist? Is using an IP to make something reflective of current society activism, or to reach a broader demographic? Even when doing so doesn't meaningfully change the IP.

I got into 40k a while back, which has lore changes / retcons by way of GW going "this exists now", and culture war folks have been getting into a frothing (and frankly pathetic) rage over saying the bespoke super soldiers can be ladies, declaring it to be activism despite GW never saying anything.
