In simplifying Three Body Problem, Netflix has amusingly assumed that unexplained results that “break” all existing theory would make researchers commit suicide instead of pulling an all-nighter to get the preprint out. 🧪
Someone pointed out the book with “Science” on it. Indeed it’s in the AAAS font. Doesn’t mean it’s not awkward set design.
Not to be pedantic, but I wonder if the suicides make sense in a Communist context, where science=orthodox Party thought, and to admit that reality was doing something the Party couldn’t explain would make one’s life vulnerable.
In fairness they only assumed it was because of the broken science because they didn't know about the murder cult and countdown Even the cherenkov swandive is later explained
Did they bother to explain how aliens learned an Earth language?
isn’t it explained in the first episode that is not why at all
Shocking: the writing duo of dumb and dumber (that ruined game of thrones) fucked up another adaptation. How do these dick heads keep getting work?
i don’t know if i’m enjoying it but will watch to the end
Exactly.
I can believe in sophons much easier than I can believe this.
this is already out??? I think about sophons all the time, but I expect that's the sophon in me.
