In simplifying Three Body Problem, Netflix has amusingly assumed that unexplained results that “break” all existing theory would make researchers commit suicide instead of pulling an all-nighter to get the preprint out. 🧪

Not to be pedantic, but I wonder if the suicides make sense in a Communist context, where science=orthodox Party thought, and to admit that reality was doing something the Party couldn’t explain would make one’s life vulnerable.
