Saying "Ko wai tēnei" at the start of your pepeha or mihi isn't necessary imo. It also doesn't mean you're more polite by saying it. Tēnā koutou katoa or Tēnā tātou e te whare etc. is sufficient. So I wouldn't use it in an email and have never seen it used by others in an email
What was the explanation for using tēnei?
Ha, we were just saying this. Show-down on! Ka aroha ki te wahine rā
Te mutunga mai o te kino! Absolutely horrendous!
Ka nui ngā whakaaro ki a koe e pōkaikaha ana i tēnei wā
E aua hoki, ktk. Āe, he tino rawe e kite ai te reo Māori i ngā rawa matihiko pēnei.
Kei te mua i te aroaro o Tauranganui Marae ki Te Pūaha o Waikato 😊
Kia pai mai hoki koe! 😊
Nau mai. Come to the next one in Ōtautahi 15 Dec 5:30pm. No pitchforks, but maybe have your waiata lyrics ready :-) Here's the FB group. Can only speak for my whānau - it was heartening to see tauiwi & Pākehā there en masse, some great signs; "honour Te Tiriti"
