My parents bought their first refrigerator, washer, and dryer in 1970. All three were still going strong when I left for college in 1989. The fridge held on, used as extra cold storage, until 1996. Dad still has a rotary phone from the late 70’s. We can make things so much better than we do! 🤬

While my dad was in the Gulf War & mom was prego w/my little brother in 91, they wheeled in a brand new washer & dryer. They made it thru years of abuse in a large family before being handed down & although dryer has had heating element replaced, they are still running to this day.

Mom still has a working toaster they got from a bank for opening a $25 savings account in 1962
