I feel plenty of connection to my characters-- there are many other themes going on inside this body and brain besides "I am a woman". It's a funny thing to ask someone clearly drawing for pleasure!

Totally, also it's great to write/draw different things to also explore yourself, it is part if what made le realise I was trans...without the possibility to explore that in art, I might never have realised or really late...
