This one unfolds exceptionally well.

I'd never admit it in mixed company, but Trump actually looks pretty good in this photo.

Color photo: Otto the Orange, Syracuse University mascot, smiling for the camera with his navy blue arms (which are where his ears should rightly be) spread wide.

Listening to American Sniper and at the 5 min mark I lolled and said "whatever, dude" to an empty room. He legit wrote a book that off the bat claimed that the U.S. was fighting "evil" in Iraq, using as example a "twisted woman" he shot -- a suicide bomber. Like, be real dude. YOU'RE THE INVADER.

The sickening thing is that the West's "here's what you needed 18 months ago" approach to sending tanks, planes, long range missiles etc is effectively bleeding Ukraine out. Trump's pretty close to being right on this point, despite being reliably wrong re: basically anything tangential to Russia.

Someone needs to call Bibi and ask him what it feels like when a billion people simultaneously think you're a fugly little ballsack.

TL;DR - your example sucks and you know better.

Got this email from y'all this morning. Nuisance lawsuits are indeed a problem. But you know you needn't worry about sharing Gawker's fate unless you're planning to defame someone. Sure, Peter Thiel bankrolled the lawsuit bc he's petty and pathetic. But Gawker? They fucked up all by themselves.

Screenshot: snippet of this morning's fundraising email from The Intercept.

Text reads: "The Intercept wasn't the first news outlet to be targeted with this kind of lawsuit, and we almost certainly won't be the last.

"In 2016, a lawsuit bankrolled by billionaire tech mogul and Trump megadonor Peter Thiel against the news website Gawker ended in a $140 million judgment that led the media company to file for bankruptcy."

The missing context is that defamation is insanely hard to prove in the U.S., but since Gawker plainly defamed the Hulkster, the judgment was a no-brainer. (The dollar amount is another matter.)

Yikes.😬

Screenshot: a snippet from David Runciman's article in which he references Philip Roth's "The Plot Against America," saying of the author:

"He hadn't been thinking of a politician like Trump, though he knew his type well and his fiction is full of such characters: braggarts, charlatans, conmen, narcissistic whiners, sexually incontinent bullies. These men are everywhere in US business and haunt many US families."

"This is Fine" meme.

A very satisfied looking brown dog in a brown porkpie hat sits in a red chair with his hands in his lap at his kitchen table as a fire rages all around him.

"This is fine," he says, in a white word bubble.
