feel like they went from old school sexist narratives to a timid foray into progressive writing in some aspects to a quick NOPE and shift into a hyper safe, sanitized, mass appeal, aseptic product.
This is a half-formed idea but I feel like in literature there generally was a more or less gradual shift into less sexist writing (not saying perfect) once a significant amount of writers and readers started to see the issue. But a lot of video games (especially western AAA & AA)
