A nice PhD defense today for Kathi Engelhardt, who spent the last few years on her research with @christianhof.bsky.social at TUM and now at Uni Würzburg. Kathi gave a great pitch of her work on climate change and insect distributions and defended her dissertation skillfully. Congratulations Kathi!

NEW PAPER: Oriana Sanchez-Mahecha published her 2nd PhD chapter. She tested consistency of (beneficial) microbe-induced resistance to aphids in barley, under different climatic scenarios. Effects were stable - needed for application. OA paper: besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Today Zoé presented to us the results of her MSc thesis research, in which she investigated insect communities in relation to green roof characteristics in Ingolstadt. She finds that abiotic characteristics, but not management, have a strong effect on insect taxa.

A lot of work takes place to keep the biodiversity exploratories going. It goes without saying that this can only happen with a great team!!
