Seems to be that way with most things that regular people are concerned with. A clear lack of will from the powerful to solve any problem that does not directly impact them. Let's just bring back the guillotines.

Those rare 8 seed victories in the first round are super fun (unless you're the 1 seed). I remember the 2007 We Believe Warriors tanking the 67-win Mavs. I was in a Texas bar watching the game and it was almost dead silent in there.

I can reach the site fine but can't login on the Linux desktop."Invalid identifier or password" is the issue. Password is correct. This seems to be an error Bsky has known about for a while but hasn't resolved

Some error has prevented me from logging in on my Linux desktop. Turns out it's enough of a problem that I've almost completely stopped using Bsky altogether

Some of our discourses, through us, compete for dominance; they erase, destroy, devalue other discourses, and these discourses view EVERY other discourse as an enemy. Think of religious people trying to erase other religions, political people trying to erase 'the other side,' etc.

The discourses themselves function in the same way as physical characteristics in primate hierarchy. Whatever the discourses determine is "best" becomes the strongest/fastest/whatever that determines hierarchical rank. (There's a lot left unsaid here). The power of the discourse determines rank.

Our higher functions can also bring us to where we can question it. Art, philosophy, etc. Otherwise, our discourses all PRESUME hierarchy, so our engagement with dominant discourses effectively obscures and reinforces hierarchy based on the characteristics of that discourse. Politics, business, etc.

It's not so much that we accept it but that our actions within it amount to tacit acceptance, and we can't get perspective from outside of it. Long periods of isolation, things we might consider disabilities, mental illness, drugs, etc. can sometimes help us to see it, but only at personal cost.

Because most of us instinctually accept hierarchy (not a particular hierarchy, but the structure of hierarchy in general), it can be difficult to see it; it's a "the fish have no word for water" situation. The primate need for and instinctual acceptance of hierarchy makes it difficult for us to see
