I am not often a nostalgic person but boy do i yearn for the days when you could just randomly thump a machine to get it working again
If you thump the power button a few times it may just work!
We kind of still do, but it's a virtual thumping now. Power cycling is the most common of these.
Percussive Mechanics *nods sagely*
I remember it working once for an old computer I had back in like junior high and I was like no way it actually worked???
PM…Percussive Maintenance.
I got an old CRT TV a few years ago and was having issues with the picture. I kept trying to fiddle with the dials and the connectors, and then... I remembered. I gave it a good, solid *thump!* and it started running perfectly 😍
There was a.time when I was out on my own for the first time. I had to threaten my kitchen appliances with death and dismemberment to get them to work at times. That just doesn't work these days.😆
Now you look at a machine the wrong way and it breaks apart, buddy I already got myself for that
I was married to an auto mechanic in the 90's. He often/loudly bemoaned the passing of 'hit it with a hammer a few times' methodology.
