The Royal Mantle of Roger II, made for the Norman king who ruled over Southern Italy in 12th century, is now at the Imperial Treasury in Vienna. The silk is likely Byzantine that was designed by Arab artisans who added a Kufic Arabic script, praising the virtues of the ruler. youtu.be/MK_6rQTGcNo

The Cistern of Aetius was a huge Late Antique open-air water reservoir in Byzantine Constantinople. It was later a “sunken” vegetable garden and now is home to one of the oldest football stadiums in Istanbul. www.thebyzantinelegacy.com/aetius-cistern
