A message from our founder, clarifying the purpose and mission of the DC3! We wanted to share what the DC3 and spaces created by the DC3 aim to do. From @chichistreams.bsky.social

Hello pals! This will be a longer message than we usually put out in the discord, and you can be on the lookout for a similar message across our socials. @everyone

The team has recognized confusion around our spaces, including our Discord, Twitter, and Bluesky accounts, regarding what these spaces are for and who we created these spaces for. The TDLR is this: All DC3 spaces were created for all creators, streamer or otherwise, to connect, discuss ableism, conduct advocacy and mutual aid events, host panels, and all-around establish viewership that respects the unique identity of being a disabled creative.

When I first made the DC3, I knew I wanted a space that would host an official Stream Team AND allow all creatives to co-exist, which is why we've always had the discord be an open space, and we've followed accounts that match our mission even if they don't stream at all. I apologize for not doing a better job of making this clear.

In the past, we've hosted events that included streamers across all platforms (except Kick), have fundraised for folks who do not stream at all, and have generally inserted ourselves into spaces that promote Disability Justice even if they are not for streamers or content creators. This is because we want to expand beyond even Twitch; we want to build a collective that includes all creators: streamers, podcasters, writers, artists, co-workers, game developers, screenwriters, producers, and more!

The Stream Team is our official promotion platform. We often share posts from the Stream Team but have historically shared posts from others, too. We want everyone who is disabled to feel included and appreciated. Going forward, we will do more to share posts outside of the streamer space, to better adhere to our mission of increasing visibility for all disabled folks.

I hope this helps to paint a better picture of what we are doing in this space. I especially look forward to sharing what amazing events we have planned in the next year.
