One of my favourite things that has happened recently is how I mentioned to someone how I'm worried about my memory because there are swathes of my life that are just blank And they said how it's a trauma reaction and my brain noping out to protect itself

I can attest to this. I’m one of those rare people that remember everything, from being born onwards. What I don’t remember though is the aftermath of a specific trauma aged 12. Nada. I had a mate who lost his entire childhood before age 16, due to alcoholic, abusive parents.

I can't really remember what my ex wife looks/looked like And most of my childhood is just *gone* I saw my mother at a funeral after a decade of no contact and it was like she was a total stranger
