Idk about "cringy" - but it was ahead of its time in a way that made it hard to connect with. I felt that it was artsy and Orwellian. Maybe trying too hard? And I promptly forgot everything except the very general plot. Watched it again this year and it blew. my. mind. with its dark prescience.
Agreed, that was sort of a juvenile opinion I had
