It remains baffling to me there are people who reflexively deride all fanfiction as ridiculous nonsense, while also being super into fan theory or “how it should have ended” vids on YouTube. Like, bro — same idea, just a different medium.

It also boggles my mind that fairytale reimaginings or published regency "Mr. Darcy's POV" novels are NOT considered with the same level of skepticism as fanfic. It's doing basically the same thing but with the benefit of being in the public domain.
