Today in #crafting#art: I altered an old book, a 1934 study guide for teachers, to make an art journal. The cover's not done yet, but the base layers are there. More info in alt text.

The cover is a reddish brown cloth hardcover, with black text for the title & some sort of official seal in the middle (also in black). There is a a gold embossed statement: Complimentary Professional Copy above the auther name "Gibbons"
photo of the same book, but the cover is now painted in white gesso & there is a swirly floral stencil pattern in white texture paste in the upper left & lower right corners.
photo of cover as of today: it's been colored in various neutral brownish, yellowish & reddish/orange paint. I used Art Graf Water Soluble Tailors Chalk Shaped paint in earth tones. The floral stencil is highlighted in more saturated colors, using Tim Holtz Distress crayons in various brown & red shades.
