Right. Let's actually commit to using this site for a while. I'm gonna focus on this for 2 months and see how it goes. I think the problem I have is this site is genuinely just a copy of Twitter so it seems pointless to give up an existing account but eh, Twitter is pretty bad now ngl so let's see

I only stayed around to keep up to date on news, but I'm realising I just don't really care all too much anymore. Anything that does interest me is gonna make its way to me some time in the day, I don't need to know everything the instant it happens.

I hope this site does become more active in my interests. I also hope it doesn't end up becoming a Tumblr migration situation where all the toxic elements of one site migrate to the other. I was one of the many who ran away from Tumblr because of all the toxicity, only to have Twitter become worse.

I’ve had a similar mindset on Twitter vs BlueSky; my solution is to just put any posts I was planning to make on both platforms, at least until it feels right to make the full jump over.

Really do hope that everyone just up and decides to ditch Twitter. That place is beyond salvaging at his point. Not under the Clown Executive Officer, at least. ... Place is definitely being perma-ditched by everyone with a vested interest in not being scanned by Grok, tho.

Bluesky has been improving within its first years and look where we are now!

The thing about twitter for me right now is that I don't get ANY growth there anymore and engagement is down so much for any of my posts despite my follower count. I actually feel like I'm getting way more engagement here by being active. Plus I can post links without being punished.

It's a shame that this site is so small and difficult to get a following on, because in terms of functionality, it's infinitely better than Twitter.

You wanted a place where you can shoot the shit, this is it. You need to engage more here, and remember to reskeet rather than just like posts in order to get people to see them. There's no algorithm, so stuff doesn't really get pushed to you.

Bluesky can be way more than a twitter clone if you know how to use it. Having custom feeds is great and anyone can make one. The fact that Bluesky is open source also means that people are making a lot of tools for the platform as well.

Honestly Blue (and I'll just mention Threads) seems a lot more civil. Less drama, way fewer bots, seems easier for creators to get their sails out while getting noticed. Might change in the future but who knows.
