Sometimes I wonder how long I have left till Nintendo sends me a DMCA claim. It's always in the back of my mind to the extent I don't wanna bring too much attention to myself. But on the other hand I was invited to the Nintendo UK HQ once so... mixed messages there.
Bold of you to assume they're going to send a DMCA and not a bunch of goons with metal baseball bats. I mean, we're talking about Nintendo here...
Can I ask why you were invited to Nintendo UK HQ?? Im just curious about it!
See, that’s the thing. The regional Nintendo branches get it and will root for you. The issue is NCL in Japan hates fun (aka they’re old Japanese businessmen and can be stubborn and demanding sometimes)
I think they don’t do it because of a few factors. They know that coming after you would stir up some online anger, you draw the character yourself and don’t use any of their assets and finally all you’re doing is game reviews. On some level you’re promoting their stuff. What’s to gain from a DMCA?
You haven't tried to make merch, so I think you're in the clear. Merch of your Goomba would definitely make you a target.
Honestly you’re chillin Nintendo seems to only do that with channels are ginormous as super Mario logan
The day that happens will be the end of an era.
Genuinely surprised you've got this far without some legal action. But that has to be a good thing, right? They can't not know about you by now.
Eh, you don’t make any fan games or mods or stuff, you rarely show visibly emulated games, and you don’t exactly go “download Super Mario Party: Jamboree from this sketchy ROM site”. So honestly, I just don’t see a DMCA happening. It’d be a stretch even by Nintendo standards…
