If Lisa Owen was challenging Luxon about this comment, I would agree it is her job to get a response. But she doesn't, and many other journalists don't. They don't push back against this false narrative when they interview those who push this fallacy.
This was a great interview but Lisa Owen need a lesson in finance with her lines of "there's no money tree" BS and "we can't borrow anymore" faux outrage. Well Lisa, we don't need to "borrow", our govt can just print the money and then tax the rich.
