& there's no better way than fiction to become acquainted with those patterns, or to get to know one's own convictions & values in response to them. In other words: fiction (& scifi in particular) is at the crux of the whole book, the textbook part as much as the anthology part.
but the basic patterns of our individual & shared lives -- the way we see & treat one another, the way we imagine our own powers & limitations in response to circumstances -- there are deep patterns there. Those patterns matter more for ethics -- even CS ethics! -- than any specific technology...
How any socialist project obtains if materiality is a corrupt trick to cage the eternal soul escapes me but Iâm eager to be informed!
