Wondered about actual effectiveness of this; looked at messages they tested & they are 100% in line with best practices on persuasive messaging. 1.3% is right in there with average effectiveness of direct mail. In the 19th and 20th centuries, we had a lot of non-church social spaces in the form of fraternal orders - freemasonry, landsmannschaften, etc. They dwindled after the 1950s, but maybe it’s time for a revival.
