Well putting the libel laws to one side for the moment, what is the difference between "expression" and "speech". To this non-legal eye, the former incorporates the latter. It is, of course, not absolute. But then I doubt it is in any jurisdiction.
"Expression" is much broader. It includes everything "speech" includes, and then some. Does it intend to convey meaning? If yes, then it is expression.
