“Human rights should, can, and do apply to all humans” is not and should not be a radical statement. The amount of effort that some people go to try to obscure this basic concept is truly wild.
But what if someone else's human rights would be an inconvenience or an expense for me and the people are a different race or religion? What then?
And that’s part of the issue. So many people in “elite” positions of power do not regard the people underneath them as human. Merely tools with which to achieve some end.
After 9/11 watching politicians argue human or civil rights didn't apply to non-Americans was infuriating particullarly since all they repeat is how US works so much at exporting Democracy.
yeah. thought I was weird for a while cuz I haven’t seen anyone else in real life who seems to think so (fully).
“It’s only water in a stranger’s tear.”
Compassion doesn't pick and choose.
Yeeeeah, I can't talk with about 75% of the Jews I know in real life right now. I just heard my husband on a call with his brother and I'm aghast. No genocide of my people. No genocide in my name.
Then someone asks you to define a human in a legal sense...
