Nope, nope, nope. The way to collective liberation is to honor everyone’s humanity and to fight for everyone’s human rights. The way to collective liberation is to create a future where everyone is safe, free, can be whole and untraumatized. Where everyone can flourish. There is no other way.
There’s also a misunderstanding about Zionism that a lot of people seem to have. Zionism in its most basic sense means believing that a Jewish state should exist in the Levant, it doesn’t mean believing in genociding Palestinians or that they shouldn’t have a state.
I've been thinking a lot about a Jewish human geography professor I had who was born in Israel. He was horrified by the situation, and ended up getting a PHD focused on The Troubles in Ireland. Peace and stability were achieved there when all sides were persuaded to stop perpetuating the violence.
But they care so much about the plight of the oppressed! Can't you see? /s
That's my take. But it's hard being in a small minority at times
Yes, this is horrible and unacceptable.
How big is this “group”?
See this is what I've always expected. Both sides point to the other side and their escalations of violence, as a reason for escalating the violence themselves. Each screaming of the speck in the others eye, ignoring the plank in their own.
It is also, I might add, cynically, wildly unstrategic of that young adult to take that stance, knowing exactly how it will be politicized. However, that might have been said person‘s goal, in which case I have even less patience because, ultimately, NONE of that shit helps Palestinians.
