IMO, this is nonsense why ? The GDP of the UK is about 2.2 trillion pounds the amount in the article is about 30 billion 30 billion is about 1% of GDP, but spread over 5 or more years it is not a staggering cost on something the size of the UK economy

Our then government signed up to these financial obligations, and even if we started the process of applying to rejoin we would still owe them money. There’s no quick fix.
