That little plastic sheet covering in your piece of new tech is supposed to come off. It might protect your device from dust for now but it also insulates heat, which can be bad. It's okay. Peel it off. We all love doing it, you deserve that same feeling.
This makes me so happy
I always take it off because, obviously, it’s meant to come off (otherwise they wouldn’t make it so easy to come off) but never thought of the insulating properties
I've had two friends kill brand new $2k+ wallmount teevees because they wanted to keep the plastic on despite warnings and one of the teevees caught fire, the other one just had several caps die, all within a month of purchase
important to note, it doesn't just insulate heat, but insulates it WELL you actually can and very likely will destroy most electronics 5000% faster if you leave that shit on, especially televisions
Funny thing I just saw on Reddit. Somebody was asking why all the light switches in Thailand seem to have little plastic sheets covering them. The answer seems to be that everybody in Thailand just assumes that the sheets that the factory puts on the switches are supposed to stay there.
