Interesting though, that we think so little of the man that we thought it plausible.

If they tip over and the mast sinks below the horizontal, under the water, is actually ridiculously easy for a single masted yacht to submerge. And tornadic water spouts are deadly on land and even more so at sea. We are seeing very many more water spouts here now, land & sea.
