I was a very very early mp3/cd ripper but I have to say, I don't know that I have ever felt more technically advanced than when the day I bought a mini disc player.

I loved my minidisc player. Until I got home and learned I needed an optical out for my dad's stereo and it took ages to record to. Still had it before MP3 players became big though so I had that over all my friends.
