Mishima is the opposite though. He missed the Nobel Prize because some old white critic insisted his work was too rebellious to be considered a Japanese writing. But that just wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's not exactly my point. Kazuo has been struggling with the perception of his identity all his life. That's why all his works are usually around the concept of identity crisis and the big question of Who Am I? I look at his works more as one of the best modern English literature.

Murakami is an antihero who feels comfortable in his own way of doing things. Kazuo is not exactly Japanese writer. I find it ridiculous when in the UK replaced Steinbeck's book with his to make their students more exposed to the world views a decade ago.
